From British History online:

Harringay boys’ club, established in 1958, moved from North Harringay school into a new building in Tottenham Lane in 1961

I joined Harringay Boys’ Club when it was at North Harringay School, then moving to the brand new building.

I started the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme there, and at one time the Duke of Edinburgh came to the club. I had the honour of talking to him about the number of boys in the scheme, and what stage they were at. Not sure whether my picture with him appeared in the Hornsey Journal.

Tom Richie was the club leader there.

Thanks, Paul. That explains why it’s called the Harringay Club. You may be interested in this photo I added recently.

Thanks Hugh, that would be the day that I spoke to the Duke of Edinburgh
