No fairground at that time. And more and better boats than in my day.

Those elegant Victorian boats were still in use in 1961, when I had a summer job working for "Olly" the manager, painting the boats and chasing after reluctant patrons whose time was up!

I also learned to row, a lifelong pleasure.
