Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Henry Harvey Vivian May 1913

Following my punting out the idea of developing virtual blue plaques for Harringay, Angela came across a new Harringay Alumnus, Henry Harvey Vivian. I've since been able to dig out a few bits of info on him, have found some photos, and edited the Wikipedia article a little. (Thanks to Liz for using her access to academic journals on a couple of articles for me).

Vivian is third from the left pictured in New York, as a member of the British delegation to the International Conference for the British American Peace Centenary, 1914-1915, in May 1913

Vivian is best known for his pioneering role in the co-partnership housing and garden city movements. He was also a trade unionist, early Labour MP, peace campaigner and Practical Mysticist.

He has his virtual blue plaque already!

Is the building 'Block of Flats' on the corner of Eade Road and Seven Sisters Road named after him? I'd always wondered where the name came from..
Eh, no. Sorry was just adding the picture captions. But still it could well have been named after him. Looks of an age when he'd have been remembered:

That's it, Vivian House. I think this was built about 1958/59 - was definitely there in 1960
I bet he knew Madam Blavatsky
Because she was a mystic? Or did she live in Burgoyne Road too? :o)
Alumnus, surely - although he may have held pluralist views ...
Good catch! Thanks.
