Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

We are often told by Council that they have obtained millions from Parking Fines and permits

Which is reported that Funds would be used for Roads

But notice that many of the Borough's Roads are falling apart

Yes seen the odd patch being repaired but Not whole Roads

My current worst Candidate is Landsdown Road N.17 , Aware it has high daily use of much heavy traffic

But notice past repairs are opening up now, especially edges of speed bumps

Yes aware you can report such repairs on Council Web site. But also aware you do not get responses

Seven Sisters Road between West Green Road and St Anns is riddled with pot holes. Very dangerous for cyclists especially when it has been raining and at night. The road is poorly lit. I have had to slow down to a near halt when I cannot swerve around it or risk damaging my wheels.

Might I suggest Harringay Road for worst maintained pavements?  Still gutted that the local paving facelift a couple of years back stopped at the top of our street.

Pure interest Jenny.  Where are you in Harringay Road ?  I was born at 40a which is on right about midway between St Anns and Colina Road.  Lived there from 49 - 70.   It will always be my home, great memories.  Don't matter if you don't answer.  I just yearn to hear about anybody's stories who has lived, or is living, in our old road.  Good luck with your pavements.

Exactly the same thing on Warham Road Jenny.  One side of the road (odd numbers) is about two thirds paved while the other side (even numbers) is about a tenth paved.  Every time I query it with Haringey they claim it’s supposed to be like that!

I absolutely back this up, the recent road works carried out around Christmas on the corner of Harringay Road - Colina Road have left what was already a poorly maintained pavement a total mess, it's like they dug up the pavement and then decided to reassemble it with remaining rubble, I couldn't believe it was such a bodged job! There was me holding out for actual improvements that would address what is actually quite a dangerous corner for pedestrians...

Agreed, that corner around the blind bend is shocking.

Any cyclist dare to mention that appalling chasm just below the crossing on Green Lanes coming down from Manor House? It'll have someone killed, that.

Is it the Haringey side the border or the Hackney side?

You know, now I've looked, it does fall *before* the Haringey borough sign. But only just...

Interesting.  I pay council tax to Haringey so would expect them to maintain my pavements, sort fly tipping etc.  Our street is a total mess.  We have some lovely residents who organise litter clear ups etc but this problem is getting worse.  I think if the council could sort the paving and show more care it could only help.

The border is a real issue. I would have hoped for better coordination between both boroughs and TfL on such a busy road

This conversation has inspired me to pick it up again with the council in any case
