Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!
With God on my side I can park where I like... so it seems?
Witnessing the behaviours in action on various days of the week but most severely Sundays it would seem there's some sort of correlation between religious observance and being largely uncaring of parking regulations, air quality and being a good neighbour. At the north end of the ladder alongside the park we are blessed with 5 (officially) Church/Mosque establishments in the space of 3 and a bit roads which makes things a bit cheek by jowl at peak times.
Does a worship activity somehow trump common sense and safety not to mention void penalty ticketing?
The Greek church is lovely,- I particularly admire the roof of the spire- but since the council put bollards on the pavement to stop churchgoers parking on the pavement outside the front on wightman road and blocking the way they have resorted to- just parking directly on the road, thus reducing Wightman to a single lane on Sundays during services. And don't get me started on the Funerals which of course happen at any time during the week and lead to similar chaos.
The population of Greek Church attendees in particular seems to have a high number of Disabled drivers who park on double yellow lines willy nilly regardless of the sense of their chosen stopping place. One such gentlemen explained to me that 'I am disabled so I can park where I like' when I mentioned politely as he was getting out that he might not have noticed his car was sticking out by the entrance to the side street which would make it difficult for others to get past..
Then there's the Gospel church at the bottom of the park on Frobisher. I really fear there might be a serious road rage incident here as church parking also makes the route through single lane access only and is a serious problem as vehicles get stuck and no one can get out. The relaxed attitude of Parishioners to chatting on the road while cars back up in queues waiting for them to move their vehicles also does not lead one to the sort of enlightenment that might be hoped for...
I'm also curious that the mosque attendees regularly park on the double yellows on Hampden road throughout the week at the railway end which were presumably put in place to allow for the large railways/metal yard trucks. Several times I've witnessed the trucks struggling to get around the corner from Wightman to the railway yards because someone/two/three had left their cars parked on the double yellows outside the Mosque gates. (or cars on both sides even) - I have *never* seen a vehicle ticketed here and walk past often.
Shades of Sainsburys Car Park congestion! I jest slightly but- It's (holy) a mystery to me...

On the point about illegal parking, do a freedom of information request to see if the council has given any parking concessions to religious worshippers. Also, ask your local councillors why parking rules are not being enforced.
Many councils do waive parking restrictions for religious groups, but keep quiet about it.
A clue might be found in the fact that there is (or at least used to be) a council imposed leafleting ban along Green Lanes from Manor House to the North Circular which meant that no one could hand out leaflets or flyers without a permit from the council. However, religious groups have a special exemption from this in Haringey, hence why Wood Green High Road is always so full of them.

Don't get me started on the Sainsbury's car park. I'm a pedestrian, the paths aren't wide enough to pass other people/buggies etc and it's a hazardous journey!

I too get fed up with blue badge holders parking wherever they like under the misapprehension that they can do so with impunity. This is not the case. They are not allowed to park where it is unsafe to do so, such as in the situation you describe. We have similar problems in Crouch Hall Road where some drivers park on the double yellow lines right on the corners into the car park behind the Co-Op. This makes it impossible for the delivery trucks to get in. It would help matters if the parking enforcement officials knew the law on this matter but they don't. I've pointed out the transgressions to them and they just say the parking is OK!!

I really don't think you should lump blue badge holders into the wider category of "inconsiderate parkers". They park where they have to because they are disabled. They don't have the choices you or I are lucky to have.

While I have every sympathy with the disabled, these are the rules -
A Blue Badge holder must not park within 15 metres of a junction.
You must not park where it would endanger, inconvenience or obstruct pedestrians or other road users. This includes:
- school entrances, bus stops, on a bend, near the brow of a hill or hump bridge
- where it would make it difficult for others to see clearly, for example, close to or opposite a junction, except in an authorised parking space
- where it would make the road narrow, such as by a traffic island or where roadwork is in progress
- where it would hold up traffic, such as in narrow stretches of road or blocking vehicle entrances
