Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Following the New Cost Saving of joining Several boroughs together to Save Cost

Do you believe that Haringey will go along the same Route as others

Could be very interesting and Save Rate payers a Fortune

By loosing duplicated layers of Top Management

Especially how close some boroughs work already with Haringey

We was Told that We need multi management Set up's in each Borugh

In the Name of Democracy -

Rather a Joke these day's when So few bother to Vote in Local Elections

As a Ex Haringey Employee - aware of the possible large savings possible

Imagine how STUPID the name Heartlands will look when the borough is no more.
If LBH is wasting money, is the internal scrutiny system broken or should the scrutineers be removed too?
John, Har'ackney's New Heartlands will be centered on the new development of Manor House/Finsbury Park (meaning the Park, not the grubby district of that name)/and the New River and Brownswood Wards - formerly South Hornsey). The aim will be "to create a vibrant new urban quarter which acts as the civic and cultural heart of Har'ackney, integrating and benefiting wider communities." Green Lanes and a river flow through it, though there are no plans at present to incorporate a Mary Nuner Ghost Road. Sorry!
I've been paranoid about misspelling dear Mary's surname and have had too look it up nearly every time I've mentioned it...
Oh Nein! Neuner! Ta John.
Ten days later, I see the local Independent is finally catching up with the world, talking of "secret" negotiations between Haringey and Hackney. Elizabeth, do please stay awake.
Personally, I don't think Hackney, or any other neighbouring borough, would want to work with Haringey. I feel that boroughs should merge key services and work together more to reduce economies of scale, because of the potential benefits involved if the process is managed properly. However, some commentators have suggested that WHOLE boroughs should merge. That should be rejected, because it would make them even MORE remote than they are at present. Local government in the UK suffers because it is heavily dependent on central government grants, and are restricted, compared to other countries, in being told by Whitehall how and where the resources should be spent, and how much in taxation that can be raised. The government was right to abolish most of the quangos, but has failed to put anything adequate in their place.
