Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I hear from a very reliable source that David Lammy has agreed to canvass this Sunday in The Gardens with the fraudulently selected Labour candidates from St Ann's (and during a Spur's match too!). This must be extremely upsetting to the current councillors whom he has previously assured of his support. I can probably accuse him of hypocrisy but let's just stick to misplaced sympathy. Last week he was given a ridiculous time over his perfectly reasonable non-attendance at the Mark Duggan vigil.

It's not just that, Labour will walk in virtually unopposed in St Ann's but they have a struggle on their hands over the road in Harringay ward where they could presumably do with his help. His attendance in St Ann's is purely to endorse the candidates in front of the party. Why does he need to do this? Here is a picture of the #labourdoorstep last weekend, the top is Harringay ward, the bottom is St Ann's ward (both from Twitter):

Even the local Labour group councillors who put their fingers in their ears and go "la la la, I can't hear you" tacitly acknowledge that the St Ann's candidates were not legitimately selected.

To those of you who think I am mad for pursuing this, let me tell you that these selection meetings are where deals like the gating of the Gardens are done (for the four Labour councillors who lived in Warwick Gardens at the time by Brian Haley who needed their selection votes). I have heard one Labour candidate say "oh yes, your vote is worth a thousand times more at a selection meeting than in the election".

Is that Angela Merkel holding the red clipboard in the Harringay Doorstep? I've never seen her around here before, but I suppose it coincides with a Euro-Election. I trust Barack's still bugging her phone.

We met in the street at the same place and time they were. We were accused of harassment and threatened with the Police. Is this how professional journalists expect to be treated (not saying I am one, just wondering)? I was asked if I had nothing better to do on my Sunday. Yeah, because local politics is not for residents, it's just for politicians.

Thank you very much to Eddie Finnegan, Phil Kennedy and Ant for helping out.

It's absolutely disgraceful. Democracy in Haringey RIP.
Did you film it John?

No, slightly squeamish about even the photos I took. This is not something I enjoy.

Kober knocked on my door this morning - i told her i was not happy (in my own little way)

Please tell me you mentioned her machinations in selection meetings to ensure she has no opposition and that she quickly moved on to the next house?

And Ariana. Can't let my 2.5 year old's first foray into political activism go unmentioned.

Well 10pm and I notice that there has been no triumphal tweeting about the afternoon's canvassing by anyone. I guess they thought I might make use of it if they did.

I just want to say thank you to the people I spoke to before this incident at the market and the Pemberton Rd playspace event. Thank you very much for your offers to come if you could, even though you didn't. If one of you had tried to stop me or told me I was mad I might not have gone.
