Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Does anyone know how long the " upgrading " of the traffic lights at the north end of Wightman will last ? It seems to have been going on weeks already with the consquent delays and nose-to tail traffic extending as far as the bottom of Endymion. I didn't see anything wrong with the traffic light phasing as it was.

I am told that the temporary lights were themselves broken down on Sunday which caused tbe snarl up to be even worse.

Thanks for all the replies and glad someone raised it. Sorry I could not be there myself.

The problem with Raleigh Road is that it is the last ladder road to turn right onto Wightman from and when the traffic backs up along Wightman no one can get out creating queues on Raleigh. This has been made way worse by the temporary lights, but has always been a problem. It was a lot better today with the temporary lights being fixed.

The reason Raleigh Road is used as a rat run to avoid Turnpike lane is mainly because you cannot turn right from Turnpike lane into Hornsey Park road. Drivers would have to go around the one way system on Tottenham lane and back down Church Lane. This inevitable pushes them on to Raleigh and I guess other ladder roads so they can go straight across at the lights.

Any one know the logic of not being able to turn right from Turnpike Lane into Hornsey Park Road? While it is prohibited drivers will always avoid Turnpike Lane and cut up the ladder, with Raleigh getting the brunt of it.
