Why traffic regulation will never work.

This evening they are blasting the redundant white lines off Wightman Road between Lausanne and Hampden. There is a huge vehicle with a compressor and water supply taking up virtually the whole width of the road.

As you come up Lausanne to turn right into Wightman you are faced with a big sign saying " ROAD CLOSED " , together with a line of cones to reinforce the message, plus a gang of gentlemen in h-vis jackets waving traffic away. Fairly obvious you can't turn right into Wightman.

But STILL ONE IDIOT INSISTS ON TURNING RIGHT, ACROSS THE PAVEMENT, PAST THE CONES and ends up stuck behind the huge vehicle.

I don't think the informal crossings are going to be very safe with selfish cretins like that on our roads.
