Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Why are Victoria Line Tube trains so darned hot?

Apparently wafts of heat are being generated by the new trains.

According to London Underground this is a "transition" problem due to the fact regenerative braking can't be turned on yet. It will be turned on in the next few weeks and then hopefully the temperature will drop (slightly).

There's some background on the problem of overheated subway trains in a 2008 blog entry by HoL member Kake Pugh.

(Though as Zena told me on her return from a trip to Stockholm, some cities solve it.)

Don't want to be boring, but we had this problem on our HK units about ten years ago too - It has been solved!

I don't use tubes that much so was blissfully unware of this, but was on the Victoria line last night after 11pm and it was boiling! The contrast as you transferred from that line to the Picadilly line at Finsbury Park was remarkable - like walking into an air conditioned room from being outside in the baking sun. Hope they sort it soon, can't imagine what it must be like during rush hour.
