With child safety issues at the forefront of our minds in Haringey this week, I picked up on
this survey by Action for Children from a wee article in
The London Paper yesterday.
What the London Paper was focussing on was the finding that 40% of people in the survey were against gay couples adopting. Apparently Action for Children found this shocking and disappointing. My reaction was different. I was very surprised that 60% of people think gay couples should be allowed to adopt. Asked to guess, I would have transposed the figures and felt that I was being optimistic at that.
