Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

👀What to see at Railway Fields in July: The butterflies are back!

The heat means that Railway Fields has the appearance of a messy tangle of vegetation with yellow and white summer flowers like birds foot trefoil and hogweed poking out between seeds, berries, and tall grasses.

Flitting happily in this heat are lots of butterflies and the odd Jersey Tiger Moth from the white papery wings of the Whites to Gatekeepers and Meadow Browns in the flower meadow and Speckled Woods in the shady part of the site. A flash of orange might be a Red Admiral, a Jersey Tiger Moth or a ragged winged Comma. If you're lucky you may have spotted the Large Skipper.

As well as the meadow, butterflies like to stop by the big purple flowers of the Buddleia near the bug skyscraper but right now you can see them pretty much everywhere on the site.

Railway Fields is open 9-5 from Monday to Friday and the third Saturday of the month (next opening is 18th July).
