Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Spring has sprung in all its glory, trees are in full leaf and the birds are feeding their first youngsters.

A coot on the New River is now sitting on her eggs and you can hear the shrill cries of the swifts over head, not to mention the insistent call of the chiff chaff.

It's the season of the wild rose now  - look closely and you may find ladybirds on them.

Great clumps of cow parsley are lining the paths and attracting insects, while garlic mustard is still flowering on some parts of the site.

Blossom lovers will now find elderflower and rowan trees in flower while the last of the hawthorn bloom is beginning to fade.

All this means that we are seeing lots of bumblebees and butterflies, especially holly blues and speckled woods.

This week we were also delighted to spot lesser stag beetles.

We really could do with some rain though as our pond is super low, more of a muddy puddle and our seasonal ponds are completely dried up.
