Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

What's the most interesting place to eat in the area? Graze or dinne? Tapas or full blown 3 course?

Has to have

1: interesting / really nice interior / atmosphere

2. Great food & decent wines

3. Great service

4  Reasonable prices

5. Family friendly

To start the ball rolling..

TRAMP - Green Lanes (opp Harringay Green Lane station). Recently voted as one of the "top 5 most interesting interiors". Just hired a great new chef. Great for special occasions.

HABERDASHERY - Middle Lane, Crouch End - great Cafe, previous winner of best London cafe.

BEAM - Tottenham Lane, Crouch End - quirky, great range of food from snacks to meals. Not open at night though. Also a winner of best London cafe.

TOOTOOMOO - Crouch End -  best pan Asian in area - eat in or take-a-way (look out for discount ads on this site by the way.

OHBA LEAF - Crouch End - highly acclaimed Japanese restaurant on Tottenham Lane.

SEASONS - Stroud Green - only serves food in season, big on ethics, very cosy.

IL PICCOLO DIAVOLO - Stroud Green (by Crouch Hill station) - lovely Italian in the Italian quarter. A real discovery place.

Has to be Selale. Best food, reasonably priced and the whole world dines there!

Agreed, great food, great service, great prices.

Always feel very welcome in there, the staff fuss over our baby, and they constantly pile on the free extras.

Not sure about the wine though.....

here here

My fave is indika Green Lanes
The best Indian food I have ever tasted ,lovely clean place and very nice staff who always treat the kids very well
When ever we ask the family where we shall eat out they always say there

Also have just tried Edith's house in Crouch end. Amazingly decorated as his grans house including a toilet and bedroom it's fab and the food it really really good quality and delist

Sounds like you're doing a little research for a website/book? Jam in a Jar, Green Lanes best for atmosphere and probably hits all the other points as well but not in C End or the Stroud :)

Mosaica Chocolate Factory Wood Green
St Johns Dining Room, St Johns Tavern

I know neither of these are spitting distance to Green Lanes, but both fit the OPs guidelines, particularly on food and decor/ ambience, maybe not so much on price but definitely family friendly for older children who have grown out of chicken nuggets chips etc
Pizza Pappagone Stroud Green for all of the above and reasonably priced. We also all like Selale, but the 2 above are my faves and I live in hope that something like this will come to Haringay. Put it this way the Salisbury could easily up their game and redevelop the back room, and The Goat in west green road is crying out to be developed into a gastro pub

I second Beam and Il Piccolo Diavolo.

I have been to Il Piccolo Diavolo twice and have been very impressed by the quality of the food and the value for money.  I also like La Fabrica on Stroud Green Road for tapas.

Haven't been to Jashan for ages, but I am glad it's still there!

Totally spoilt for choice but my favourites -

Mosaica (Chocolate Factory, Wood Green) - great interior but a little on the pricey side

Irvin's Bar and Grill (Crouch End) - fantastic food and a lovely chilled interior

Durazzo - Brilliant for kids and cant beat good quality and reasonably priced Italian food.

Jashan (Turnpike Lane) - The best Indian in the area.

I would second Seasons and Ohba Leaf.

Buonissimo 451 West Green Road is a good Italian  but I really love Jai Shri Krishna 8 Turnpike Lane, top notch south Indian vegetarian!

Jai Krishna on Stroud Green Road is the place I always take visitors. It's unusual in as much as it's very much a place to share food, not to have just one or two dishes to yourself, and it's even though it's all vegetarian I have never taken a meat eater who missed there being meaty options!

The place itself has a very basic interior but that doesn't matter because the food is fantastic, and though they don't serve alcohol it's BYOB and there's a great offie just across the road that stocks plenty of wines and, more importantly for me, an excellent selection of beers.

The prices are beyond reasonable - you can eat to the point of rolling home for £10 or under a head.

Definitely one of my favourite places to eat in London!

Agree re Jai Krishna, it's been a firm fave as long as I've been a North Londoner. Consistently good food and such great value. We've only stopped going there so much now that The Finsbury has got its pizza oven up and running, as it's closer to home (and the pizzas are amazing)
