Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Well, it seems 10 years of hard work has its reward..

This popped up on my phone the other day.

But isn't this sort of behaviour one reason why people develop contempt for politicians and the whole process of politics?

I seem to remember an episode of 'Yes Minister' where an-about-to-retire senior civil servant explains which quangos and company boards he plans to join.

I think the arguments for and against this practice are pretty well-rehearsed, Alan, and I acknowledged them when I said "whatever the rights and wrongs of it". There are no doubt countless theses written on the topic.

It's also true that we shouldn't lose our humanity and we ought also to recognise that Clare Kober will be dealing with a difficult transition.

Given the ferocity with which people hold political views in Haringey and beyond, my sense was that a depersonalised and balanced debate on the issue was less rather than more likley. So I shied away from opening up the wider debate.

What did we honestly expect? Can we please be a bit classy and just leave her to get on with her life without this kind of thing? We should instead be worrying about what fresh problems lurk in a potential new council leader.

Problems??

Are you suggesting that the incoming admin might not be quite up to the job?? I thought that was the reason for all that internal Labour Party stuff last year -- so we had a competent and trustworthy admin??

It can't have gone pear shaped already

Mmh! Council Employees are not allowed to work for a Client of the Council's or contractor for a period of at least 6 months after they leave the Council, so a case of one rule for employees and another for their masters.

Oh! You never know..

i read an article today that said Lendlease are looking forward to meeting the incoming Labour admin. Can't see it being cocktails in Monaco tho, hopefully it won't be cold coffee at their solicitors either.

Hopefully, you'd like to know that Pinnacle isn't just any development company, rather it specialises in investing in 'urban development' from money in overseas tax havens https://www.ptlgroup.com/jurisdictions/

Don't think Pinnacle Trustees Ltd,  Jersey ( https://www.ptlgroup.com/ ), offering " family succession planning, asset holding, wealth management or more complex corporate holding structures"

is connected to Pinnacle Group ( https://www.pinnaclegroup.co.uk/ ) which is in facilities and property management in the UK.

But if you can demonstrate a link.....

I can't find the reference to Bermuda but https://www.pinnaclegroup.co.uk/blog/news/pinnacle-announce-new-sha... will, in my view, demonstrate that the Pinnacle Group is far more into investment than facilities and property management. Do you disagree?

I take no view on    your view    of Pinnacle Group business strategy.

There is no connection with the offshore Pinnacle Trustees in Jersey that you first stated.

Thanks, Gordon T for checking facts and keeping people posted.  And for posting links so people can go and see, look at the sources. Rechecking if they wish. and making up their own minds.

Good for her.  Having spent so much time working up what I'm sure she sincerely believed was the best scheme for Haringey she's surely going to use that experience and expertise.  It seems massively puerile to me to expect her to do otherwise.

Hopefully the new leader will approach talks with Lendlease with an open mind and salvage what he can from the work done to date, whilst being mindful of all the risks and issues flagged in the scrutiny process.  There must be a real risk of stalling much needed investment in Haringey if the new team kick off by looking amateurish or worse.
