The extra pressure this work has put on parking has meant that it is more difficult to find a space and the temptation to park illegally – even briefly – is there. A certain person did this yesterday and within minutes was towed away by the council. I understand there was a £50 fine plus a £200 release fee.
A quarter grand. Nice work if you can get it, but this level of fine seems disproportionate to the offence and disproportionate to the level of fine you could expect for evading car tax.
The council are under financial pressure and are on the prowl most daylight hours.
