Just walked up Stapleton Hall road which is closed and the surface dug up in huge chunks, with water pouring everywhere. Affecting water pressure in the surrounding homes.

The major water mains fail in Seven Sisters Road a couple of weeks ago was an example of how the new "better" mains pipes have either not been laid correctly or, alternatively, are not up to the job. When I talked to one of the engineers (its taken almost two weeks to fix) I mentioned this and he grimaced and said he of course couldn't comment. The previous mains lasted many, many years and held the water at a much higher pressure but it seems the modern pipes can't even cope with the reduced pressure - we know its reduced pressure as when they did our roads around here a few years ago the pressure of our mains driven shower went down and when i queried this they admitted that the new mains pressure was indeed lower.
