Hi all!
I recently moved in Noel Park and I asked for a food bin and a garden waste bin (for which I paid for). I received both of them within a week, but my food and garden waste has never been collected on the scheduled day. Every week I have to send an email to Veolia, they apologize and they collect my waste one or two days after.
I tried to phone, I've sent several emails and I've been told that they were making sure that the problem was taken care of. Still nothing, my food and garden waste won't be collected unless I send an email and ask.
What can I do? Is there anything I am missing?
Thank you in advance for your time!

After three missed collections in I think three months (heck with them), Veolia are supposed to log your case as a complaint and get a manager to check on the given collection day. So, first, I'd call and check that your case is logged. I've found their phone service to be pretty good - 020 8885 7700.
Secondly, it sounds bad enough to get your councillor involved.
Let us know how it goes.
Have you been able to speak to your neighbours to see if they've had similar collection problems? If they have then that might suggest a possible common access problem.
In any case it's incompetent if you have to worry about this every week. It wastes your time and also wastes the time of Veolia staff - and that wastes them money. More waste each time they respond to you and arrange a special collections.
As you may know, one of your Noel Park ward councillors is Peray Ahmet the Council Leader. She has a lot on her plate, but also has a very competent assistant. peray.ahmet@haringey.gov.uk.
There are two other ward councillors. But whereof I do not know, thereof I must be silent.
Thank you both for your reply, both very useful!
I have made several complaints and they are all logged with a reference number... They say that the recycling manager is investigating my situation. Not really sure what's to investigate...
Unfortunately, none of my neighbours has neither a food nor garden waste bin, which might be the reason why they are not coming to collect my waste?
The Council Leader is a very good shout, I will give them another week and if nothing happens I will send an email.
Thank you again, hopefully, I will manage to get it sorted anytime soon!
Have a great day :)
Happens to me too. We should all complain to our counci members. I am fed up with constantly having to phone up to get my garden waste collected
Also, and though it is not an excuse for recurring issues, bear in mind that the council had Veolila cut the number of crews and the Covid pingdemic is not helping at all, as mentioned earllier tin this week HOL "newsletter".
ah, I have the same issue in the same area. A recycling crew basically looks in my bin, decides it isnt full enough to bother and leaves it.
I film them skipping it most weeks, and I send the film clip to Veolia, but I also copy in beth.waltzer@haringey.gov.uk and seema.chandwani@haringey.gov.uk (she is all over flytipping and waste issues and comes across as very dynamic)
I know all the Veolia supervisors by name as they are sent out to empty my bin. One of them, Andy, even comes past on his own initiative before I have sent in my missed collection email.
I think I might stop recycling. If binmen cant be bothered to empty it, I cant be bothered to sort and wash everything for the bin...

Subject: Waste collections - Complaints shared by residents on Harringay online website
Hi Seema and Peray,Could I please ask you to take a look at this discussion thread on Harringay Online website
https://harringayonline.com/forum/topics/waste-collection-i-don-t-k...It appears to be more than just a few missed collections. Perhaps time for some plain talking with Veolia? And equally plain explanations for residents.
Best wishes,
Alan
I've had a very prompt reply from Cllr Seema Chandwani who asked Francesca, that you email your address to Seema to get the problem looked into.
She also mentioned not being logged into her laptop at that point. So perhaps Seema may not yet have seen that the problem appears systemic.
Maybe if everyone in this thread is willing to send their home address to Seema she can assess the wider issues as well each person's complaint.
(As people will appreciate, there are legal rules about each resident's private information which councillors need to follow.)
