Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Waste collection changes for flats and businesses on all main roads coming in February

Haringey council will be extending the timed collection service to flats and businesses along all main roads within the borough next year. Roads affected in Harringay include Green Lanes, Wightman Road, Woodlands Park Road, Salisbury Road and St Ann's Road. The night collection service will also be reinstated along some of the main roads.

Proposed changes to collection times, by street, can be viewed here: Timed collections [pdf]

The effect of these changes will be that residents and/or traders may only put waste out for collection between the designated put rubbish out times on a daily basis. Waste may also only be collected within the designated collection times.

These changes will be implemented during February and March 2016.

The existing timed collection service will remain valid until the new service is implemented during February and March 2016.

The existing timed collection roads and current collection times, can be viewed here [pdf]

More information and details of who to contact about these changes can be found on Haringey Council's website

I'm assuming that this has been done partly to address the issue of waste being put out in the street 'for collection' where there are no existing bins (usually because of lack of space where shops have been converted into housing) . This is a huge problem in seven sisters Rd, so I was pleased to see it included on the list.

At present, bags are left in the street at all times of day for the next Veolia collection, even if it's half a day away, so this will at least ensure that the mess is only out there for a short period. Guess it remains to be seen how well it will be enforced.
