Volunteers needed to help people get back into work in Haringey

The Careers Development Group (CDG) is a charity supporting people in the borough to get back onto the career ladder.

According to the latest figures released by the Office of National Statistics, 10,393 people in the borough are claiming jobseekers' allowance, which is the equivalent of 6.5 per cent of Haringey's population. This is higher than the average figiure for London, which currently stands at 4.4 per cent.

To address this CDG, which has a centre in Ashley Road, Tottenham, has been running a volunteer scheme since last summer but needs more people to join their team.

Volunteers can spend from as little as two hours a month helping unemployed people gain skills through one to one coaching or group sessions
