Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Vodafone poor mobile signal issues in Harringay, Hornsey and Alexandra Palace?

Hi all,

Since earlier this year, Vodafone's 4G signal seems to have dropped massively in the area - barely 1-2 bars at the top of the ladder, blackspots around Hornsey high street, and a drop to 3G by Alexandra Palace.

I contacted Vodafone earlier this year and they confirmed there was a known issue that they were aware of. But there has been no improvement since then.

Have other Vodafone mobile users in the area had similar issues?

Oh yes. No signal at all in my Ladder house for the first few months , now only in one room and only in the morning. I’ve had long correspondence with Vodafone who say that a mast was down in Feb/March but has been fixed now - that might explain the slight improvement but not the overall issue.

I’ve had terrible signal for months, thought it was just me! I have to go to the back of the garden to make calls. I’ll report it as I’m due an upgrade and can’t stick with them if I can’t actually get a signal.

I spoke to Vodafone again yesterday and they said they hadn’t had any other complaints from this area, so please do.

I get one bar if I’m lucky and stand on top of a ladder waving my phone around.  Any tips on a contact web address to have a moan?

The link above should be to the online complaint form, which is the one that I used.

Thanks Julie

Perfect, thanks so much, complaint lodged.

I researched this when I was looking at changing my network a few years back. What I found is in a post, now linked via a tag I've added under your post, Julie.

One of the coverage checker tools I found was this one. That and other coverage checkers led me to EE which has been fine. If we ever have trouble with Virgin Wifi (thankfully very rare these days - touch wood), I use my phone to provide a wifi hotspot and that works very well too. But, you'd need to check out your own location as signal strength does vary widely within any neighbourhood.

Complaints may help in the longer term. But what's needed to improve matters is infrastructure investment. So, for your own purposes, I'd just choose a network that works best where you need it most.

Thanks Hugh. In this case (and i think others' experience has been the same) the issue with Vodafone has only been since the beginning of the year; I've had no problems before that - which is why I entered into a new 24 month contract last November...

Same here Julie.  The signal in my house has always been OK (never brilliant) but it’s been almost non-existent for the past few months.  Complaint logged

Okay, certainly worth lodging complaints then. I wonder what changed things.

Past week or so I have had no mobile network indoors. Yet their coverage tool says it's fine. Time for a word with them!
