You could try these people (in Bristol though): http://www.ems-europe.co.uk/services/domestic-tape-disc/  Up to 100 items free if you pay the carriage, I think.

There is a    haringey-recycle    Yahoo Group, but I think you have to sign up before you can even read messages, never mind post them. See https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/haringey-recycle/info

Edit: EMS will take unlimited numbers: http://www.ems-europe.co.uk/no-limits-to-domestic-vhs-recycling/

And pamish found a couple of years ago that they do a London pickup: see  http://www.harringayonline.com/forum/topics/video-tape-disposal?com...

I've still got a VHS player and might be happy to take a bunch off your hands. Have you got a list? Most charity shops even won't take them as say it costs them to recycle.

don't have a list but have a few bags you can have, and what ever you don't want you can get rid?

The 'Raising My Voice Foundation' charity shop on Green Lanes and a Muslim women's charity shop on Seven Sisters Rd between the station entrance and Fonthill Rd were both grateful to accept vhs tapes last time I checked which was a couple of months ago. Very few charity shops take them now but I am always on the look-out as I provide a clutter-clearance-with-an emphasis-on-re-use/recycling service and vhs tapes are a common problem for those who are happy to part with unwanted item as long as they don't go into in landfill.
