Always fascinated to see our old haunts like this. It was the Gaumont by my time and favourite - this and the Astoria at Finsbury Park were the two grandest picture houses. Put our neighbour, the little Regal, to shame!

A grand cinema.   And even grander when seen through my now older eyes.  My/our natural cinema progression started at The Coliseum as kids, early teenage years took us onto The Ritz/ABC Turnpike Lane and culminated at The Gaumont/Odeon Wood Green.   Remember going to a contest of local bands held there, mid 60s I suppose,  helping to carry mates' gear, drums, amps, on and off stage.  Think it took place over the the best part of a Saturday.  Never talented enough to participate musically, sadly.
