Thanks, Adam, for the latest issue of winkballs - just in time for all fools' day.

Precis (for anyone who can't be bothered to watch it):
'I know Tottenham - I'm still a fringe Tottenham landlord (till Ladder prices take an upturn) - many of my family still live in the community but I was lucky - some inroads into quality housing, though not yet to my standard - we have a record of improvement in our schools, but not improved enough for my kids - still it's a record I'll run on and I'll play it for you again and again and again and again - and I have loads of home videos too for . . . . No, honestly, don't run away - I'm running - come back, come back . . . .!'
Did you break it OAE? All I'm getting is a 403 Forbidden page...oh no wait you did, now I'm getting a message saying essential maintenance. Did you throw a spanner in the works?
Ah if only I could!
No, Liz, it's still working. My spanner failed.
there are quite a few prospective London candidates on Winkball

including Anne Gray who is standing for the Green Party in Tottenham:

A pitch from Old Labour stalwart Jeremy Corbyn, MP for Islington North:

And ex Lausanne Rd Resident.
Jeremy lived at 28 Lausanne road until 1984. He now lives in the constituency where he was elected (Islington North) - which is more than can be said of the sitting MP for Tottenham.

Jeremy was a councillor for Harringay ward, and was instrumental in saving the Falkland/Fairland Open Space (now Fairland Park) from being built on in 1980.
Thanks for that - sad though it may sound, that's gone straight on to Wikipedia and another entry has been added to my slowly growing category on Wikipedia of People from Harringay.

Incidentally, whilst making the addition, I read the following:

Due to the question of his eldest son being required to go to a less-than-desirable local and failing comprehensive school, the Holloway School, his wife sent their son to the Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School for Boys in Barnet instead, outside their borough of Islington. They had tried to obtain a place at Acland Burghley School, but were unsuccessful. This compromised his beliefs on academic selection (grammar schools) and the couple subsequently separated in 1997.

I know that for some people the issue of where an MP lives and where he or she schools their children is of critical importance and not one where shades of grey apply. This quote about Corbyn, however, underlines for me that there are times when shades of grey should very much apply with the judgements we're all so willing to pass. I wonder if there'd be more merit in focussing on matters of record, stated intention and capability than on choices made around domicile and children.

If a local MP, who incidentally grew up and lived in this constituency cannot live and bring up his children in the locality of his constituency then, they haven’t got the basics right and from then on not worth listening to. This is one of the many reasons why people are disillusioned many politicians, they preach and promise yet they are above their own messages. He obviously prefers the way the Liberal Democrats do business, as he prefers to live in their constituency. Apparently he was also visiting a school open day up west of the borough when an important debate about NHS closures were being discussed in the Commons, all of the other relevant MPs were there, why wasn’t ours?

I would expect this from certain other parties but not from Labour party members. This is a very topical issue nationwide and the electorate needs to feel an affinity to MPs or candidates who have some relevance to their community. When you ship political joureneymen/women people are often skeptical about their understanding of local needs and local issues as they may not be around in 4/8/12 years, the electorate most probably will.

David Lammy would not get my vote if he was the only candidate standing for Tottenham, sorry but those sort of double standards don’t wash with me.
As I said , I recognise that this is an issue where people feel strongly. I respect those opinions. For that reason, I didn't expect my post to go unchallenged. Nonetheless, it's worth pointing up that there may be a number of reasons for an MP's actions....and yes I accept and respect that a person's motivations makes no difference for some folks.
