Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Nothing new this, but I'm sick of having only half my rubbish picked up. This morning they plucked a black bag out of the top and left the rest - I only have a small bin, so with two weeks until the next collection it will be overfull. Also I resent having to lump it out into the street only to bring it back not emptied.

I've complained and asked for it to be picked up, but they 'can't' come until Friday, so the bin will sit there until then.

How much rubbish do you produce?  It would take me all year to fill even one of the small bins.  The only thing that goes into mine is plastic film, and that packs down a lot.

Obviously more than that. As is her right!

I'm not quite sure what the relevance of this point is?  She's entitled to have her entire bin emptied as long as the lid is closed, no matter how much there is in there.

Same. They've emptied it twice without actually emptying it. Seems a bit odd to pull a 3/4 bin all the way back to the yard knowing it's not empty. Twice.

What's a small bin?  I didn't know we had the option of having anything other than two massive wheelies!

The standard black bins are 240 litres and the small ones are 120 litres. The small recycling bins are perhaps 100 litres. As a family of 4 we were initially refused but had this overturned. We half fill the black bin every fortnight and fill the recycling and food caddy weekly.

We should all make the effort and request one where appropriate to reduce the bin blight in the borough. You can send a request to enquiries.haringey@veolia.com.
I know it's annoying Maddy but keep reporting it every time it's happens so they can't claim that there aren't any problems.

Rather than the top bag being plucked out, wouldn't it be more likely that the bin didn't empty when tipped up by the automated tipper? Not sure that makes anything better, except that at least it wouldn't be deliberately half-arsed.

This happens to me too. If the bin is half empty they pluck the top bag out and leave the rest. Last week a passerby had put a half eaten croissant in my bin resting on top of sealed blacked bags, so they didn't bother emptying it at all.
Same, I never had any issues but over the last couple of months it's got worse. They hardly ever empty my food waste bin any more either so when it's warm outside I can't open my windows as the bins attract flys which come in the house.
Also, after they have been the streets are full of litter. Not sure if they have been given more work to do with less time but the service does seem to be going down hill.
They are coming this morning so I'm going to speak to the directly re my bins.
The same thing happens to me with my food bin. Every other collection they either miss it or don't bother. I ring and email each time and the woman on the phone is very apologetic and says it will be collected the next day - it isn't. Sometimes it's four days later and sometimes it isn't at all. The excuse is always the same - the vehicle had technical difficulties. I always reply - That's what you said last time. I don't think they care.
Happened again this morning. Bin not collected and they left one of the signs saying it's contaminated. Other than all the stuff I usually recycle the only thing I didn't put in there was a used coffee cup which was obviously put in by a passer by. That'll be three weeks now where it's not been collected.
