Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Some people scoffed at those of us who have objected to more and more advertising being plastered over Green Lanes.

Today's Guardian carries an article about the same issue in Venice. So, okay, perhaps we have a tad less architectural heritage here in Harringay than there is in Venice, but the desire to protect what we've got is the same.

Now come on - we do have a canal it's just that the bridges are too low to get a gondola through
:o)
"Venezia we ain't, but IL PRINCIPE's the same." But if that's too Machiavellian a title, we could address you as DOGE UGOLINO.
If you accept, remember that any Charter for this Borgo must prioritise flood defences against the rising tide of our hidden rivers, its effect on our Grand Canal and Great Sewer, and the consequent sinking feeling in the lower reaches della Scala e dei Giardini . As Doge you must also submit to our annual Marriage Ceremony (following the 'Nozze adriatice' rite) in which your Illustrious Dogeness will process from il Palazzo Ducale in Via Hewitt for your betrothal to each of the above waterways in alternate years.

Francesco da Mosta should be glad of those hoardings to cover the cracks in San Marco and the Palazzo Ducale. He's given me some inspiration for our next WRN4RA meeting. What about a massive eye-catching nude, with a Prada onion bag, to cover the monstrosity of St Paul's, WR. I'm sure the Vicar will be chuffed.
