Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

People kindly posted some positive stuff about the Velopark in the past. I would like some tips on getting there. At 6 miles each way I don't want to be puffed so as to leave my energy for the off road trail. Best overground train route please? Or is it driveable and parkable?(sorry but the Lea Valley website is a mess of unhelpfulness and the staff know sweet fa)

Cycle slowly!? No idea about where to park, public transport wise the easiest option is probably Stratford? But it really isn't a long ride there, lots of possible routes, including down the river Lea if the weather is nice.

I have to agree with Alison, I'd say head towards Tottenham Hale and either cycle up the river lea to the stadium or get the train to Stratford and go from there.

Once there 'if you are exiting out of Stratford Underground Station - take escalator or lift up to ‘The Street’ (which is the outdoor part of Westfield Shopping Centre) – follow it along, bear left past The Cow pub and the Park is directly ahead of you across the road.'

You can't take a bike on the Victoria line unless it folds down.

Two routes from Green Lanes. Bus/ Victoria Line over to Tottenham Hale and take train down to Statford. Or Bus down to Dalston Kingsland and take Overground to Statford/ Hackney Wick.

Driving there is fine if you are prepared to park in the multi-storey at Westfield. I think there is some parking next to the velodrome if recalling my last trip...however it may now be a residential building site.

Definitely wouldn't recommend trying to drive there, as far as I can remember there's no car parking at all at the velopark? Assuming you are taking a bike with you (so tube/bus not an option) the overground to Gospel Oak then change for a train to Hackney Wick/Stratford would work.

But 6 miles though, that's just a warm-up, right? ;)

I've not been to the Velopark specifically, but it's not that difficult to drive and park just to the west of the Olympic Park.

There's no parking restrictions on the streets north of Homerton High St.  I've parked up around Clapton Park before, and from there, you can just hop over a footbridge and head down through Hackney Marshes.  It doesn't take that long, and certainly wouldn't on a bike.

Alternatively, there's a fair bit of paid parking bays in Hackney Wick which aren't too expensive (about £3 gets you 2/3 hours) and there's a nice new bridge from there that puts you right in the heart of the park.

There's a free car park at the velodrome. To drive go via the lea bridge rd. Turn right onto Orient way, go over the roundabouts. Turn right onto ruckhold rd which is the a106, take the first left at the lights. Then it's the 2nd or 3rd right. To cycle go to tottenham hale and cycle along the canal, through Springfield park, turn left along the lea bridge rd, turn right and take the orient way. It's a cycle path the whole way. Sorry it's a bit vague, it's from memory, check a map for the finer details. It's a very easy route.

Thanks for the helpful replies and options!!!!!!

When I last went, I cycled there via the Lea Valley (a very pleasant ride) and came back on the overground from Leytonstone High Street to Harringay Green Lanes - might not be the fastest, but was straightforward

It's an easy ride along the river/canal, either head to Tottenham and head down the River Lea or to Camden and East along the Canal.

Or if you want a train then the overhead from Harringay Green Lanes to Leytonstone High Road gets you within about a mile.
