Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Has anyone used the Council's bulky items collection? I'm thinking of doing so to get rid of a TV and a printer no longer used. They say they take printers but that doesn't come on the drop down menu.

And a bit unclear where to leave the items... they say on the property boundary... but that's a low wall as with many Gardens homes. Can't put them on there but if I leave on the pavement I could get done for fly tipping! If I leave them inside the gate they might not take them?

Any feedback/advice would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

I used the service earlier this year and had the same dilemna about where to leave the things. In the end I kept them inside my gate and they came in and took them no problem. I used their drop down lists creatively.

Thanks Mother Hen! That's very helpful.

We have used the bulky waste collection several times with no problems at all.   In fact we had a bulky waste collection just this week and always leave our items inside the gate on the pathway, covered as per Haringey Council's request.   All items should be ready by 6.30 a.m. on the day of collection.   Our collection was a mix of one electrical item and 3 non electrical i.e. 4 items for £20 however they take the electrical items on a different day even though they formed part of the same collection and when booking Haringey Council will advise a day or you can choose another date from the drop down menu.   Haringey used to offer, and may still do, collections for small electrical items such as toasters, irons, etc., free of charge which just need to be bagged and left inside the boundary.

Thanks Linda, good to hear about your experiences along with mother hen's. All very helpful. I know now that can leave inside the gate on the path and they'll collect. So I can now go ahead and book a slot.

Yes, they do still collect small electricals for free. Booking is online and straightforward. Have done it a few times, once I fill a carrier bag of old electronics. It has worked well.

Have done this many times. Always leave items within my property boundary, inside the gate. Never had an issue with the council. What does happen is random people end up taking some/all of what I put out, before the collection I paid for takes place. Either way, it’s a win and my old junk disappears.

Good to hear all this, thank you. I thought some stuff might be taken before Council gets it but as long as it goes, good. I'm getting this sorted out soon, just need to venture into the loft to get a few items down.
