Davo Ravo and I had a good first meet up to talk about getting started on tracing family history. David shared lots of good tips on where to go for information and how to map out what you discover.
We agreed that it would be good to meet up every so often to share what we've been doing and get further guidance. We also thought it would be great if more people wanted to join us. So let us know below if you'd be up for a meet up and we'll try and set a time and a place that would suit.
UPDATE 27th Feb: Anyone interested in a March Meet up, let us know, see below in comments for details.

Hello all
David and I have been chatting backstage about getting another Family History Meet up going. The last one was a great getting to know you start and David would like to follow that up with a workshop style meet where we talk specifics i.e. your goals in tracing your family history and 2-3 people you would like to find out more about.
Let us know on this thread if you would be interested in something like this.
In the meantime,
The National Archives have podcasts on tracing family history
Try this : http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documents/family-history-intro.mp3
Other podcasts are available here on more specific elements of tracing family history such as using the census, birth, marriage, death certificates, war records. (Plus loads of other history stuff).
They mainly take the form of talks but some are proper podcasts with presenters, there's even an entertaining one by Terry Jones on rehabilitating Richard the Second.
If you know of other free online resources about family history be great if you can share the links too.
