At their meeting this week The Friends of Ducketts Common discussed with representatives from the Metropolitan Police and the Safer Neighbourhood Watch team the issues with drug dealing, gangs, intimidation, violence and threats on Ducketts Common.
Below are some actions that the public can take:
- When observing, or being confronted with, any of the above issues, move to a safe place, call 101 and report the problem.
- Write to David Lammy, MP to express your concern – it is important that a significant number of members of the public do this individually for this issue to become high priority. The following points should be mentioned:
Contact by e-mail: mail@davidlammy.co.uk or lammyd@parliament.uk
by telephone: 020 7219 0767
by websubmission (no receipt): http://www.davidlammy.co.uk/Contact
- Write to your councillors – particularly to those of neighbouring wards such as Noel Park, West Green, St. Ann’s and Hornsey – asking them:
Whilst the local officers are very aware of the situation and also reported of some success, these issues are currently not the focus of police action within the borough. Therefore, members of the public are encouraged to take the above steps to bring this to the attention of the borough commander who then would also have access to resources outside of Haringey.
A fuller report on the discussion with the Metropolitan Police can be found in the October 2013 minutes of the FODC.
