A visitor has had their car clamped due to not paying their car tax (they aren't from the UK and didn't realise it was separate to their driving licence).
No issues with it not being paid and so on but the big issue is that it appears the tax clamping company is closed on Sundays and they need to get home to children and jobs 200 miles away tomorrow.
Any bright ideas on how to get it unclamped tomorrow?

Well they paid online and it magically disappeared very early this morning.
Been a lot of publicity in North London on Radio that DVLA are clamping and removing in the Area
Normally clamp for several days then Remove, if no response to clamp
Vehicles are marked DVLA not aware of contractor
Many years ago before retirement. Haringey Highways Enforcement used to remove in excess of 5,000 vehicles for not having Road Tax just within Haringey
Now down to DVLA direct
Who I understood to operated 24/7
Also understand they will prosecute those that damage or remove clamps
Unfortunately the DVLA has a fairly hard line on un-taxed vehicles so if it's not taxed or on a SORN I'm afraid they are within their rights to clamp and fine the registered keeper. If it subsequently gets towed away for non payment of road tax then a release fee and storage fees also have to be paid before they release the vehicle.
Very sorry but I am not aware of much wriggling room on this one
As stated many from overseas are not aware of UK Regulations re Road Tax and MOT's
Just come and buy a vehicle and get insurance and drive around
Remember a TV report where Police was checking vehicles for Registration and Road Tax in the Midlands
There was large lorries full of vehicles being removed for none registration Tax and MOT issues
People seem to believe that because there are Shortages in Police that they will not get caught.
But Police are Not the only ones processing Untaxed and Fuel issues at these Stops. Yes pull them over but normally Tests and checks are off Road. With Police in attendance to stop arguments
Remember many years ago when worked at Finsbury Park. They started checking vehicles driving past park around 0800 and had to stop at 1100 as run out of places to store seized vehicles . Was planned to last to midday
Another issue is people driving into UK from overseas. Who decided to stay over six months. forget to register vehicle in UK . Not being aware that All Ferry ports. Log All vehicles entering and leaving Port
So Authorities can prove if you have exceeded time not needing to register vehicles for use on UK Roads
