This just in from Haringey's tree officer:
2 trees are being removed shortly within Harringay Ward
These trees are subject to an insurance claim against the council.
Based on the available evidence a claim against the Council is likely to succeed on the balance of probabilities The presence of roots and desiccated soil together with the cyclical movement demonstrated by the monitoring data suggests that the Council's implicated trees are contributing towards the damage
Prior to removing these trees, a warning sign will be erected on the tree informing residents that it is to be removed. Our annual tree planting budget was withheld. This was due to the Council needing to make further savings to its overall budget, because of the reduction in government funding. We will aim to plant new trees in this area, when we have sufficient funding in place.

It used to be possible to sponsor a tree in your chosen spot. Cost £160?? I was looking into this for the chosen spot outside my window, when the need was pre-empted by a GLA sweep of the area and eight new trees appeared in out road. So, is this privatised version of crowdfunding still happening?
(A sapling doesn't cost £160, more like £10, so the rest must be the labour costs.)
