Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

This from Joanna McCartney’s office

Dear James,

Joanne has now received the following response from TfL:

"I appreciate the frustration caused, particularly as these closures have been in place for an extended period.

At Turnpike Lane station, the Ducketts Common subway was closed following flooding caused by a leak from a Thames Water main. Thames Water has now completed its works and the residual water seeping into the subway drainage has ceased. Before the subway can reopen, the drainage channels and subway require deep cleaning, which is currently being scheduled. We understand this will be soon and we expect the subway to reopen once these works have been completed.

At Manor House station, the position remains unchanged and works are still required to several subway exits. We continue to progress the necessary repairs.

We will continue to monitor progress at both locations and will provide further updates, including anticipated reopening dates, once these have been confirmed. I do apologise for the inconvenience caused and would like to thank your constituents for their patience."

Please do not hesitate to get in touch if Joanne can be of any further assistance.

Best wishes,

Debbie

Open Street Maps provides the answer as to which exit is where (albeit in rather small format!). There are now seven exits arranged around the crossroads under which the station is located:

Exit 1: Seven Sisters Road east, north side, (for buses towards Stamford Hill)
Exit 2: Seven Sisters Road east, south side (for buses towards Finsbury Park)
Exit 3: Green Lanes south, east side (for buses towards Newington Green)
Exit 4: Green Lanes south, west side (for buses towards Harringay)
Exit 5: Seven Sisters Road west, south side (for buses towards Finsbury Park)
Exit 6: Green Lanes north, west side (for buses towards Harringay)
Exit 7: Green Lanes north, east side (for buses towards Newington Green).

(I've added this info to the station's Wikipedia page since I found the info quite hard to locate).

So the other two exits they'll be closing are the two on the corner directly to the south of Exit 6. I wonder why they haven't mentioned Exit 6. Will you be replying to them, Julie?

Thanks Hugh, that is very useful. So it's exit 6 that has been closed for most of this year.

Yes, I sent an email to the emails further up this thread (Joanne and Debbie) and I'll send one directly to TfL as well.

Exit 4 is the one I've been using to get the 341 or 141 northbound so it is really very annoying that one will also be closed.

Thank you to everyone who has been chasing this up. I got out today for the first time in months (confined to barracks by illness, very boring, Old People stuff) and noticed Turnpike Lane entrance closed, so was not aware before. No surprise to find flooding due to Thames Water, one of the worst organisations on the face of the earth. It is hard to imagine their "service" might get worse, but every time they keep deteriorating.

A world we shut-out travellers can only dream of ....

Great photograph!

Great photo! Ah, the days when "Thames Water" was far in the terrible future, when art deco Piccadilly Line stations were coming to life ... was it all just a dream?
