Trubble at t'tunnel

Walking over to Crouch End today, I saw a small fleet of vans parked on the New River path. Engaging one of the workmen in conversation, I learned that the New River tunnel under the railway has large cracks in it and needs fixing urgently.

A Haringey Council spokesperson denied that the same builder used for Hornsey Girls School had also been employed on this job.

Oh gawd, crumbling Victorian architecture, decaying post-War concrete, nightmare problems with modern blocks since Grenfell... I'm just glad I live in a wattle and daub hut!
