Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Tomorrow's Location, Location, Location in Harringay, but dare we watch?

The following in my inbox this afternoon:

I thought you may be interested to know that Kirsty & Phil are in our neck of the woods tomorrow on Location, Location, Location (C4 8pm).

They are looking at properties in Wood Green, Alexandra Palace, Muswell Hill, Archway, Crouch End, Stamford Hill and ... Harringay (at an ex-post office turned into a two bed flat). Kirsty is very flattering about Harringay (over a montage of Harringay featuring the old banner over the bridge) unlike the potential buyer!

PS - I think it's Avondale Road (yellow house on the corner)

Christopher, I fear the enemy are already within our gates undermining our fortress from within. The property pornmongers are here amongst us. I take it programmes like Location3 and Sarah Beeny are Coalition Plots. The egregious Kirsty is a wannabe Tory candidate for Tottenham. Presumably Phil and Sarah are from the same coalition stable. They didn't just arrive here by accident. Our hyperlocal social media have been eagerly predicting a pornocopia of millionaire houses here for months now. They're even plotting the removal of our distinctive burgundy Harringay haematic house colours. Gird your loins but the battle may already be lost.

OAE, it's getting just a tad boring.

Ignore it Michael. Everyone else does. I'd never demand that anyone's HOLposts should be prescribed or compulsory reading for anyone. Not my vocation in life to be interesting.

Perhaps constructive, or is that an ask too far? What is the OAE manifesto?

Ignore it Michael. Everyone else does.

Eddie, please do not think you cast your pearls before swine only. This writer for one, continues to believe that – despite taking some flack at the time – you hold the all-comers, all-time record, for the best post on Hol. On HP magazine. Thanks!

Osbawn, stop crawling. Flattery gets you nowhere with OAE. Watch your back.

Clive, I've no idea who that Irish racist is you're talking about. I hope they caught up with him. Nilgun, I'd have you know, is practically my next door neighbour. Brian seems to have gone to a more exalted waste facility. I hope George was given a nice gold watch. In retrospect, they all seem such wonderful public servants when you look at what's followed them. Oh of course Gina is still Gina.

Michael: Manifesto? OAE?  Oxymoron.

Who are the swine Clive?

Christopher, while I think that vile people is too strong, like you, I have long wondered about the role of real-estate TV info-mercials over the last 15 years or so, in helping to drive up house prices.

It seems to me, that they encourage the idea of houses as an investment, rather than as a place to live and short-termism. They over-drive the desire to own property. This can cause both first-time buyers and would-be investors into rash decisions.

Too much bank lending in recent times has gone into the normally secure prospect of house price inflation and less, towards productive industry (currently, partly starved of credit).

I apologise if I sound like a rabid socialist, but rising house prices are normally not a reflection of the owner's efforts or genius, but represent community-created value.

High rates of increase in house prices sometimes end in tears with the misery of negative equity.

Those in favour of ever increasing "values" forget the many who are not on the ladder and may never be.

I tried to watch it but could barely hear a word because of a very loud police helicopter which was in the area for what seemed like absolutely ages (I think it was louder than normal as it was a clear night - but it was a funny coincidence)

It's vacant enternanment and I doubt anyone has made a decision to part with their money on the basis Bill and Ben's programme
