Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Throw your hat in the ring to make the Harringay Festival go with a swing

With a following wind, it looks like we're going to be able to build a fantastic Harringay Street Festival this September 20th. I've been insisting that as well as support from the Council and traders, a significant element should be by and of "we the people". It'll be as great as we make it.

So if you'd like to join the team, let us know. Broadly at this stage the options are to offer help:

- in the months running up to the festival in helping to get things organised.
- on the day.
- in staging or using your contacts/know-how to arrange an event/interesting stall/street act on the day.
- by arranging a satellite event on the 18th or 19th. (Events organised under the banner of the festival probably by local groups Adam Coffman has already spoken to the schools, Railway Fields and the. Salisbury who are all interested in putting on some events/entertainment. We've also got various artists/art collectives, local historians and a host of other local groups and talent.)

So, roll-up, roll-up Harringay, get your hat in the ring.

1.I'll help on the day.
2.Adam, give me a job to do.
3.Can we have HOL 'merchandise' ready for a stall?
That's great Liz. Thanks.
And who is volunteering to staff the Hugging Wall?
We should do some recording on the day for the podcast: some vox-pops, interview with an organizer, a bit of live music etc. Could be a nice feature
Great idea. Is that a suggestion, an offer.........or do you know a man who can?
That's an offer - I'm happy to do some recording. As many of us as possible should take video and photos, combine everything we get and we can create a video of the days events.
That's fantastic. Do you think it will make sense to have someone co-ordinate it. I guess at the least that might mean setting up a Flickr page? Should we think about some sort of prize competition (sure we can get the prize sponsored)?
Photo competition would be good - a Flickr page is a great idea. It will certainly require some co-ordination to gather all the media, and someone to take an editorial role in making a film. I've got equipment and know-how. Plenty of opportunities for people to get involved. If only we knew some bright and out-going sort who would be keen to get her face on camera as a presenter?
On a roll, on a roll. So, if it's ok with you I'll pencil you in as Mr Media? I guess there'll be others keen to work with you.

We must have some brilliant budding presenters!
Yep. Though if you actually call me Mr Media the deals off!
Not looking for a bimbo airhead surely ?? :-)

Will do what I can to help.
Thanks John - this may be a bit left field, but I wouldn't be surprised if people were interested in what you're doing with your Lotus. I wonder if that with some kind of Lotus history display. I'd be happy to approach Proton for you and see if we can get some sponsorship or cars or something from Lotus. What do you think? (For readers who don't know Lotus was born just by Hornsey Railway station).
