Three local schools affected by national concrete safety issue
Three schools in Haringey are among those known to contain Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC), a material that leaves buildings prone to collapse.
Park View School in West Green and Hornsey School for Girls in Crouch End were already known to be affected by the issue and have taken action to remedy parts of their buildings. Welbourne Primary School in Tottenham Hale is also affected. None will need to close.
A Times report today, includes a picture captioned, "Schools, including Hornsey School for Girls in London, are reinforcing buildings containing failing concrete."

Surely Haringey schools should be reinforced with passing rather than failing concrete?
And is it true that Independent school roofs are all abstract instead of concrete?

When I was a student I worked in a new hospital with a 25 year live expectancy. It was called something like "package deal" building. 40 years later it turns up on the news as, shockingly, it is falling to pieces.
RAAC was never meant to be a long term solution. It can't really have been a surprise to anyone unless they threw away all the filing and lost their collective memories.
