Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Not goats or mountain lions but nice to see our ducks reclaiming the streets.

He does have a very, very confident strut... so it wouldn’t surprise me. What Anka said, though, it’s not his fault even if he is a little terror.

I don't know where to begin to ask this question.  I don't even live in Harringay.  But each year I have a small/medium sized gathering of bees round one or two of my windows.  Occasionally one makes its  way in and I have a problem evicting it.   I accidentally doused one in hot water in the sink which was painful for us both.  Grateful for any advice.

They might be nesting somewhere inside the roof or walls - I had a bumblebee nest in the ceiling above my bed, which was rather strange.

It's possible they have a hive somewhere or they are just looking for somewhere suitable.  There's a loft above my flat, for instance, but I can't hear any buzzing and I never go up there.  Outside, they don't seem to be heading upwards but just hang around two windows on the ground floor - strangely, around a gas pipe into the flats - and it was the same last year.

My  fox story. Not this year. Had foxes in my, um, wildlife refuge back garden, plus they wander the neighbourhood. I leave the back door open to let air in, easier than opening windows. One night I was in the front room which is about 15 yards from the door. On the PC, I vaguely heard the cat moving around. Then I realised I no longer have a cat. Little noise at my feet, looked down and there was a little pointy face looking up at me. We both jumped way high, then it inched away, so I followed it to check it knew its way back out again. as we reached the door, its brother came wandering out of the bathroom.

So I fitted a stair gate to the doorway. Which worked for a bit, then another time it must have jumped over. By the time I chased it out, it had crapped on my sofa, trampled footprints on my white duvet cover, and pissed on the pillow. Added a second gate to make it 6foot high and so far that has done the trick.

I do love to watch them but they DO NOT belong indoors.

Bit of a horror story, Pamish.  I sometimes wonder if I am the only one who believes they do not belong in the city at all.  They are wildlife.  If we love to watch them we should visit them and watch carefully in their habitat.  Of course, it is much too late.  Our home is now their habitat.  Doesn't make it right, though.  We once lived with cows and goats but that was a long time ago.

Not green lanes but the goslings in FP are all round the recently cleaned lake. They are loving it, what with no cars and dogs on leads. Never seen so many. It’s the high light of my day, going to watch them, and feed them. I think about 2weeks old as they only came out of hiding about 10days ago I think. But growing by the day. So funny to watch them copy their mum and dad.

No, Geraldine, you're not the only one.

What I assume to be the same ménage à trois (how presumptuous!) are currently sat in the bus stop outside George's chippy on St Ann's Road. The boys in there are giving them something I can't quite see (hopefully not chips!)

Maybe they miss the bread!
