Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

This morning, as usual, the Education Officer at Railway Fields was doing her site check before a school party came in.

When she arrived at the mud kitchen, her first thought was how tidy it was. Her second thought was where are all the big metal saucepans?!

She checked the site thoroughly in case someone had taken them to another bit of the site, like the story den, to play with or, perhaps, someone had thrown them into the bushes. It soon became clear that the pans were no longer on the site. It was also clear that they had only wanted the pans as the utensils, plastic plates and bowls and non-stick frying pans were still there.

We can only surmise at this stage that the metal had some worth to someone and was carried off.  It would have taken a bit of strength to carry them away as there were a fair few of them and some of them were pretty big. Did anyone spot someone leaving Railway Fields staggering under the weight of some big, muddy saucepans?

As you can see, this has left our mud kitchen quite understocked with play pans just as the summer holidays are starting. The mud kitchen is a popular destination, especially for our early years visitors and it would be a shame if there weren't enough pans for them to make their mud pies in.

Can you help us restock? Have you got any old play safe pans that you could donate? Old strong plastic plates, kitchen utensils and bowls can also make great playthings and, as you can see from the picture, don't attract the light-fingered. The non-stick pans didn't seem to appeal either.

You can leave them on the mud kitchen shelves above or give them to someone at the cabin. Alternatively, drop me a private message.
