Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi,

I noticed the Goose in Wood Green is closed, has it change hands or just a refurb?

Staff that serve drinks would be a start

Thanks

I've seen on their website that it is having a good refurb and looking good, however, they will still have live sports so not my kind of pub. I'll stick to the Westbury, the Prince or the Starting Gate...

nice one Alex, I have been to the Westbury and Starting Gate, I must check out the Prince.  The westbury shows the rugby but I know what you mean.

The Goose was a dump so anything is an improvement. Hopefully they employ some good staff

It's part of a fairly large pub chain and they're all pretty similar sports pubs. I can't say I'm a fan although I've popped in once or twice to watch football.

Looks like it is going to be renamed The Nag's Head.

The Nag's Head is the original name dating back to Victorian times

To be fair, it's the best place in Turnpike Lane - Wood Green area to watch live sports. Where else? so looking forward to the refurbishment

I agree there is no where in this part of London to watch sports that is half decent

Anyone else remember when it was the Nags Head and had a sign on the door NO WELLINGTONS under a huge banner STRIPPER EVERY LUNCHTIME .Mid late seventies during the shopping city build.

I remember the strippers. They used to get ready for the show in the ladies toilet. One girl was doing it to get the money to get through college. Nice girl too.

Edwardian, I think...
