The Civic Society Initiative was set up following the demise of the Civic Trust in 2009. It is now seeking to define its role and have published a document entitled
Own the Future. Among the things that they seek to do with this is define the common thread that unites the civic society movement: the importance of place, pride, identity and community.
One of its main campaigns for 2010 is
Street Pride creating action to create better streets for people by identifying and urging action against unnecessary street clutter focusing on poor pavements and unnecessary signs, posts, bollards and guardrails.
Last year Hugh asked
this question and, from the CS site I notice that Tottenham Civic society have undertaken an audit of the Tottenham High Road.
Would something similar be a useful exercise for Grand Parade/Green Lanes or other parts of Harringay?
