Haringey's policy on Sustainable Design and Construction is out for consultation till 27 January 2011.
Once adopted, it will be considered in determining planning applications. It does not create new policy, but complements and provides clarity on the implementation of national, regional and local policies that promote sustainable buildings, reductions in CO2 emissions and decentralised energy initiatives.
The policy includes guidance on how to:
* use passive solar design;
* use decentralised and renewable energy;
* be more resilient to climate change;
* reduce water use;
* protect biodiversity and
* reduce waste, improve resource efficiency and promote sustainable waste management.
