Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Super Sunday: Mass vaccination event to be hosted at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday 20 June

Haringey Council is working in partnership with the NHS and Tottenham Hotspur FC to host a mass vaccination clinic at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday 20 June.

COVID-19 vaccines will be made available on either an appointment or walk-in basis, subject to availability, between 10am – 6pm. Anyone over the age of 21 is currently eligible to receive a jab.

Eligible, older people who previously have not been vaccinated when notified, are very welcome to use this opportunity to get vaccinated too.

You can book your slot for vaccination through your GP, or by this Eventbrite link (external site). Alternatively, you can walk up on the day without an appointment, subject to vaccine availability – please be aware you may have to queue to enter the stadium.

Between 3,000-5,000 vaccinations are expected to be given on the day, with all attending receiving a jab appropriate to their age group.

Entry to the stadium will be gained via Paxton Terrace, which is fully wheelchair accessible via a street level lift. A managed queuing system will be in place to ensure social distancing is maintained. Face masks must be worn by attendees at all times.

Vaccinations will be carried out in the stadium’s West Stand Level 1 concourse, delivered by trained vaccinators from the GP vaccination sites in Haringey.

Dr Will Maimaris, Director of Public Health at Haringey Council said:

“In line with the rest of London, cases of COVID-19 are rising in Haringey.  Most people get vaccinated when it is their turn, but there is still a significant proportion of eligible people, who have yet to get vaccinated.

“Vaccination is our best defence against COVID-19 and the current, most prevalent Delta variant, that first originated in India, is more transmissible than previous variants.  The delay to step 4 of the roadmap out of lockdown is evidence of just how quickly the situation can change.   I would urge anyone who hasn’t been vaccinated to take advantage of this great event at Spurs.”

“Thank you for playing your part to Keep Haringey Safe.”

While the vaccine clinic takes place in the West Stand, on the other side of the stadium, the NFL Home Locker Room will host a blood donation event being run by the NHS, targeted at members of the Black community – aged 17-66 – in a drive to increase blood donation to aid treatment of sickle cell disease.

A dedicated phone line - 0300 303 2737 - has been set up to book appointments on these sessions. Alternatively, potential donors can visit https://www.blood.co.uk/news-and-campaigns/campaigns/united-by-blood/  to find out more and book their timed appointment slot.

They have opened it out to all over 18+s

And also walk in for second dose Pfizer if your last one was over 4 weeks ago.

No eligible arms will be turned away.

There are also similar events happening in other stadiums over the weekend.

It's going to be a super amazing jab session to get London protected!!

Thanks. The above was info released by the council just before 15:00 today

It's been a shifting sea of information.

The EventBright link does say over 18 (this changed at about 2pm this afternoon, but probably after the Haringey official press announcement was written!!)

I'm volunteering on the day and we have been told 18+ and they are just really keen to make the day a big success.  So hoping for a Super Sunday turnout and that rain doesn't stop play!!

(See here for "official" announcement.)

Just to be clear, I wasn't doubting you - just explaining the out of date info!

Thanks again for the update.

I know. Just good to add a source for random information on Internet!!

Let's just hope it is a successful day

Just giving this a bump!

And if anyone fancies getting involved in the vaccination programme, our local hubs are always on the lookout for volunteers.

VACCINATION VOLUNTEERS – WE NEED YOU!

Morris House Vaccination Hub on Lordship Lane is one of Haringey’s two key NHS vaccination sites, vaccinating 700-1300 people every day of the week. Can you help once a month, once a week or even more?

We are on the lookout for smart and friendly volunteers to help out with the following tasks:

  • Checking in patients

  • ‘Patient Flow’ - helping our patients move through all areas of the site

  • Data Entry – inputting vaccination records

The atmosphere is positive and professional and our service efficient and safe. If you have a half day, full day or more that you can offer, please contact joseph.hornsby@nhs.net to become a local legend.
