The Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council created
Streetpride because of its desire to work more closely with the community. High on the list of Streetpride’s innovative and customer focussed campaigns is the Streetpride Champions Scheme.
This scheme has grown as a result of listening closely to what residents said about their own streets and localities.
There are now more than 170 volunteers who are directly involved in the upkeep of their neighbourhood public spaces. The numbers of volunteers has steadily increased year on year.
The scheme highlights the strong link that the council has forged with its residents and links closely with the Streetpride mission statement:
"To work with the community to maintain and improve the street scene to a standard which will promote civic pride and community responsibility".
So, time for Harigey to look at a similar scheme?
