Haven't reported it but was thinking the same thing, when they came up the street very quickly today and did a half job of it. Very poor. Has Veolia given up?
Don't feel left out Adrian; I sent a long rant about the cleanliness of Falkland Road with a councillor copied in. The piles of leaves were the tip of the iceberg and so a telephone call was appropriate.
I'm also on Falkland road. It was curious to see that 3/4 of the road (Green Lanes to more or less the school entrance) were reasonably clean. The other 1/4 was full of leaves.
They cleaned in front of the house earlier in the week, maybe in response to your rant. The other sidewalk is still full of leaves though.
Happens most years - the 'leafier' parts of the borough get lots of sweeping and poor old Harringay drowns in rotting leaves.
I believe I may live in the 'leafier' part of the borough and we are experiencing the same issue. I heard that sweepers are refusing to clear the leaves as it is not their responsibility! It is an absolute myth that this side of the borough receives better service in fact it is the opposite as your labour councillors are so resentful of us (even though there is poverty here believe it or not), so I think you can stop playing the victim.
... refusing to clear the leaves as it is not their responsibility!
Possibly. Might depend on the individual. Frobisher Rd N8 was swept yesterday by 1 individual who said he had been diverted from his usual 'Harringay Passage' patch to 'help out'. At the end of the day Veolia are responsible for getting the job done and that doesn't appear to be happening in a very organised fashion.
Maybe our councillors can get onto this wider problem?
The leaf situation is pretty bad - I will also chase Veolia on this.
Yes even over in Crouch End we are getting the same treatment. Leaves left and a rough sweep once in the last week. Seems our collective concerns over Veolia are well founded.
