Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Still hate the new Council logo? Wear your protest - oldstyle logo on socks!

From https://shop.open-city.org.uk/collections/apparel/products/haringey...  £8.

Part of the annual Open House/Open City event (the opening of New River Head buildings written up by Hugh is another part).

Comfy and cosy bamboo socks featuring the iconic Borough of Haringey logo, part of a range celebrating London's municipal design heritage.

The London borough of Haringey's star-shaped 1972 logo, designed by John and Sylvia Reid, represented the pioneering history of television transmissions from Alexandra Palace. It is no longer in use, but was among the boldest of the striking new municipal logos created during the 1960s and 70s.

Pioneering mid-century designers John and Sylvia Reid, best known for their S-Range of furniture comprising thirteen iconic pieces taking inspiration from the prominent Scandinavian designers of the time, they worked across furniture, lighting, tapestry and municipal design.

All funds raised from the sale of these socks will be used to create important educational programmes making London more accessible and equitable.

It's just the star design, no typography. Striking, no?

I love them! Even more now I know they are a John and Sylvia Reid design. I have a wardrobe designed by them.

So tempted by the Camden socks too as I work for them. Not convinced by "one size fits most" though. I very much doubt they will fit my size five very narrow feet.

'Most' of course is a movable feast but the UK male median foot size is a 10, the female median is a 6, so the socks should fit feet some little way outside both of those parameters.

And if you feel they're too loose around your narrow feet, you could frame the Haringey socks beside your wardrobe..... and offer the Camden socks around your colleagues.      :-)

I ordered both pairs right after posting that.  Fingers crossed! I have had very bad luck with "unisex" (read: men's) socks in the past
