Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

At a very family-friendly time and with a decent weather forecast, Harringay station will be visited by 'Duke of Gloucester' on the way to Cambridge and Ely, with a Steam Dreams excursion.

Live times here - https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:U80994/2026-06-13/de... and trip details here - https://steamdreams.co.uk/journey/haywards-heath-to-cambridge-ely/

It will pause briefly at Finsbury Park (platform 7 if you want to go there) so it should be at a moderate pace past Harringay.

What's special about 'Duke of Gloucester', number 71000?

1) It's unique.   2) It's arguably the most powerful steam locomotive in the UK. 3) It had a short working life on British Railways and when it was withdrawn its three cylinders and the valve gear (that make it go) were claimed by the Science Museum, so any subsequent restoration would have to remanufacture them. This was done following numerous donations from generous individuals who knew what a significant engine this was.

Small disclaimer. 'New': well new to me, and I can't find a record of a previous visit during 'Steam Watchers' existence.
