Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!
Squeeling car.
There is a car going around Harringay which is emitting a shrieking/ squeeling/ whirring noise on purpose, the noise is so loud that it hurts and then the car speeds away. If you hear it can you try and get the number as it is awful particularly if you are a pedestrian close by. Thanks Maggie.

It's the air con. Mine does it when you start the engine with it switched on, I'm sure they're not doing it on purpose.

Would this be loud enough to stop all pedestrians close by and for them to have to cover their ears?

Yes. When it first did it I didn't know what it was and though it might be the fan belt, or an iminant explosion! The mechanic told me what it was, I now make sure I start the car with the air con switched off. The noise is awful! If they have their windows shut they might not be aware of it. By autumn I'm sure you won't hear it anymore.
