Do you suffer from tunnel vision Clive.. ? Bleeting out the same old stuff..won't help.. better if you go back to preaching your usual 'fiscal austerity' tomorrow-
It's a very serious social problem.. Apparently the police have been warning about civil disorder for ages.. unexpected.. ? No!
The police apoligised tonight . why didn't they on Saturday..?
OK guys. Let's have a truce please, there is enough conflict out there. Let's all pull together to help those families. There is a post about where we take donations for them and I am now packing a bag for tomorrow to take. If we all took things, that would be a start.
So good night and I hope some sort of peace can return.
Stephen you're quite right, I have been leaving comments. So have others. I thought that was largely the reason for this website?
You might not always agree with other people's comments, but I don't think you should imply that others don't have a right, subject to moderation, to leaving comments.
In my opinion, more than one commenter in recent days has left comments that are, considering the misery that has been inflicted on communities, no more than frivolous. I don't mean you and I think that one thing we might agree on, is that the rioting and looting is a serious problem.
There may be aspects that suggest a social problem, as you maintain, but I don't see this as a case for social workers. In the short term it is serious problem for the police and if mayhem continues, for whatever armed forces are necessary to deal with it. The first duty of any government is to protect its citizens and maintain order.
Feel free to disagree – its a free society as long as it doesn't descend into anarchy.
.
Yes I agree, I think we have to agree to differ.. but that's no bad thing :o) Did you see the link to this on the HOL twitter site?

Says it all a lot better than I can..
These criminals/rioters/ etc., etc., are a 'product' of post 80s London / British society .. they are not a majority, but there are more than I think we care to imagine.. Someone is going to have to sort this mess out..
I'm sickened that the Mayot of London didn't see fit to come back to London earlier - he should have been back long before Cameron.. But I expect he thought - it's only that Tottenham rabble again.. I'm sure if the damage had been in a financial district or SW6 or SW14 he would have been back on Sunday..
I hope you all give him a good talking to, if he comes to Haringey..
It was obvious that Boris would visit his SW London (Wandsworth) cronies first..
Not Croydon or Tottenham.. both worse hit than Clapham..
