Haringey Council announced yesterday the projects shortlisted for its £1.5 million One Borough One Future Fund designed to "support innovation and change, stimulate new ideas and help the council deliver on its key priority of addressing inequality".
Over 300 applications submitted from which 16 have been shortlisted by the 'Innovation Panel'. Applicants now have have until the end of November to develop their idea into a formal business case to be presented to the Panel.
The selected projects are grouped under five headings:
There is one project under the 'Environment' heading which might strike a chord in Harringay. This programme would aim to encourage economic and social regeneration, by helping independent small and medium enterprises to replace unsuitable shop signage and improve frontages.

Sounds like a really promising mixture, IMO. I can't agree that Surviving our Streets is too strong a name for "an intervention and prevention programme to reduce gun, knife and gang violence" however. Young people have died in Haringey because of exactly these things.
